Ringo was never in to guitars. He only ever wanted drums. He bought himself a large bass drum - and that was it!
He later joined a group, which had made quite a name for themselves in Liverpool - Rory Storm & The Hurricanes. Ringo was a member of this group, during the time the others were in The Quarrymen, and even when they became The Beatles.
When they were all touring in Hamburg, Ringo became great friends with them all, and a strong bond developed. He even helped out when Pete Best couldn`t make it to the gigs, and later replaced him.
